Serving the community is a part of Ikigai for many in Okinawa in Japan. The good part of being in a community is that you get together, share best practices of daily needs, helps others cope with limited harvest, have dinners, games, etc.

A youthful mind drives us to adopt a healthy lifestyle which further helps to slow the aging process.
Just the way, if we don’t exercise or live a sedentary life, it leads to weight gain; similarly, if we mentally don’t exercise well, our neurons and neural connections start deteriorating, which further reduces our ability to react to surroundings well.
When you begin training your mind, it doesn’t seem easy, but the good part is as you learn how to do it. Then on the second attempt, you realize how easy it is because now you are better at it.
Even playing games is an excellent mental workout because it helps to create new stimuli that prevent depression that comes in with solitude.
Even in your twenties, if you aren’t curious, slow your intellectual activities, or have stopped learning something new every day, our neurons start aging, which is not great.
 To live youthful life, start doing something new every day, interact with people around, and play games. These are some excellent anti-aging strategies for the mind.
Antibodies in your body react the same way it responds to pathogens when under stress. It activates a protein that triggers the immune response. The problem associated with stress and anxiety is that its response neutralizes harmful agents and damages healthy cells, leading to aging prematurely.
Mindfulness helps filter the information that reaches the outside world.
We can achieve mindfulness through breathing exercises, yoga, and body scans. It’s not a one-day thing; mindfulness involves a lot of training and a bit of practice where we can learn how to focus our mind entirely, which will reduce stress and help us to live longer.
It has been studied that people who have a low level of stress face challenges well and put their heart and soul into their work to succeed and hence, live longer. And others don’t if one lives a more relaxed life and retires much earlier.
Sleeping is a fantastic anti-aging tool that generates powerful antioxidant melatonin, a hormone that strengthens the immune system, protects against cancer, produces insulin naturally, prevents osteoporosis, and fights heart disease.
One becomes frustrated when he lives a life without purpose or when his goal is entirely skewed. So, according to logotherapy, if one discovers the meaning of his life, it helps to fill the existential void he is having.
Morita Therapy focuses on teaching patients to accept their emotions first without trying to control them because we don’t create feelings. They come to us. Accept it. Then those feelings will change due to patients’ actions and activities.
"If you are angry and want to fight, think about it for three days before coming to blows. After three days, the intense desire to fight will pass on its own".
The power of the flow is; that the experience is enjoyable, which you will do at any cost for the sake of doing it. And concentrating on one thing at a time becomes a contributing factor in achieving the flow.
The Japanese secret to living longer is don’t worry, keep your heart young and never let it grow older, plant your kitchen garden and look after it, have organic vegetables, have some meat, always keep doing some physical activity, sing, sleep well, dance, communicate with people around, enjoy every season, and stay optimistic and live a good life.
