In this article, we will help you to prevent the itch and will help you in getting back your happy glow. We will provide you with some super simple ways to keep your skin hydrated, healthy and glowing.

Remember!

Do not hesitate to invest in your skin, it is going to represent you for a very long time.

Things to consider if you have a dry skin

1. Moisturise Regularly

The way just the right amount of water keeps your plants healthy and vibrant likewise moisturising your skin on a regular basis does the same!

By hydrating the skin, we prevent our skin from drying out and breaking down, which leaves you with a smooth and even look. Dry skin can be incredibly painful. Regular hydration soothes the irritation and prevents that irritation. Having moisturised skin feels better, feels soft, smooth and comfortable all day long.

Hence, you can start using a moisturiser that suits your skin type and make your skin healthy.

2. Avoid Hot Water

You should avoid using hot water as it removes natural oils from your skin.  Your skin is a mixture of oil and water. Washing off some of that oil with warm water will leave your skin dry and tight. A healthy skin holds moisture, like a sponge. Warm water behaves like you’re squeezing that sponge, making it dry and dehydrated.

Instead you can use lukewarm water as it doesn’t remove those essential oils and your skin stays naturally hydrated. Switching to lukewarm water can make a huge difference in preventing dry skin and keeping your skin feeling healthy and happy.

3. Choose Gentle Cleansers

Choosing gentle cleansers on your skin is crucial. Imagine that your skin has a protective shield against moisture and irritants but Harsh cleaners can damage this shield. Harsh cleansers can not only wash away dirt and oil, but also your skin’s natural oils, which are needed for keeping your skin hydrated.

Gentle cleansers remove dirt and clean your skin without being too harsh. This keeps your natural oils active and keeps your skin happy. Gentle cleansers also prevent skin irritation and redness. Hence, do your skin a favour by choosing a gentle cleanser.

These days, I am in love with Himalaya Herbal’s aloevera moisturising face wash that comes with cooling cucumbers. Never have I ever come across a face wash that gives me a cooling sensation, helps in cleansing and also moisturises my skin at the same time.

4. Humidify Your Environment

Dry air can be your skin’s real enemy as it can suck up all the moisture and cause itchiness and dryness. But there is a simple solution to it, humidifiers! Dry air draws moisture from everything around you, including your skin.

Like a wet sponge, evaporators release moisture into the air. This gives your skin a more “hydrated” state. With more moisture in the air, your skin doesn’t have to work as hard to hold its own. This prevents your skin from drying out.

5. Protect Your Skin

There are multiple things that can harm your skin such as too much sun exposure can dry out your skin as the sun’s UV rays can damage the skin’s barrier, causing dryness and dehydration. The wind can also blow the moisture off your skin and can dry out your skin as the dry air pulls moisture away from the skin, making it hard and uncomfortable.

So one can use a sunscreen that has a broad spectrum of SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Blankets, hats and gloves can be your skin’s best friends on a windy day. They form a barrier that prevents the air from absorbing moisture. So keep yourself hydrated and apply a moisturiser and sunscreen before you step outside.

6. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated can be a powerful weapon in preventing your skin from getting dry. Drinking enough water is essential for our body and skin. Water exfoliates our skin cells from the inside out and makes it plumper and tighter.

Staying hydrated helps maintain your skin’s natural barrier and helps in protecting the moisture of your skin. Water also helps in delivering nutrients to your skin cells, promoting overall skin health and a healthy glow. Remember that staying hydrated is a simple yet powerful way to keep your skin healthy and glowing, and fight dryness from the inside out!

7. Exfoliate Gently

When it comes to dry skin, gently exfoliating the skin is key to unlocking a smooth and pleasing complexion. Dead skin cells are just like dust mites on your furniture. They can clog your pores, trap impurities, and make your skin look dull and dry. Exfoliating helps in removing dead skin cells but excessive scrubbing with harsh exfoliants can actually irritate sensitive skin and can make it dry.

Using Gentle exfoliation removes thin layers of dead skin cells and brings up the smooth, glowing skin underneath. Gentle massage can help stimulate your skin’s natural cells, promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

Therefore, throw out those harsh loofahs and scrubs and choose gentle exfoliators.

8. Consider Your Diet

The food you eat really plays a big role in keeping your skin healthy and glowing.

While food plays a role, drinking plenty of water throughout the day is important for overall hydration, including your skin.

Remember, It’s not just about including healthy foods, it’s about limiting processed foods, high sugars and unhealthy fats. You can nourish your skin from within by making smart food choices. A balanced diet with the right nutrients will help keep your skin functioning, hydrated, healthy and glowing.

9. Consult a Dermatologist

Consulting a dermatologist can be helpful for preventing your dry skin. If your dry skin does not improve with home remedies or gets worse over time, a dermatologist can diagnose the cause and recommend treatment.

Dry and itchy skin can be a symptom of a serious condition such as eczema or psoriasis. A dermatologist can recognize this issue and prescribe medications for recovery. Dermatologists can analyse your skin and recommend specific products according to your needs.
