Ten years ago, was design even a thing?

Yes, it was but not at this large scale.

Everybody wants to design creative and engaging stuff, especially for their social media platforms, which are excellent marketing Platforms for generating leads, creating engagement, and spreading word of mouth about your enterprise.

Since everybody is doing it, so expectation has gone even higher.

Both Design and Design Thinking was never these important. There were days when we considered social media a waste of time, but things have changed. Overall, these days every design is a Marketing Pitch that every company is trying to communicate through their designs.

To understand what your audience likes, you need to give them different kinds of content before you conclude what is appealing and what is not.

For that, we use the design thinking process.

It is the most practical methodology for tackling unknown problems. It helps to understand rapid changes in a user’s environment and behavior and to develop and refine skills accordingly.

With the boom of cryptocurrency, the government got tense that cryptocurrency will replace our fiat currency. Like it’s very very scary for the government that a country’s huge amount of transactions are happening using a currency controlled by some anonymous person.

1. Planning

Do you have a Plan?

One thing that many usually ignore is Planning; getting an idea of how to go about beforehand is always a plus point it saves a lot of time for other processes to go smoothly.

The design comes later, which further enhances your content.

One size fits all method doesn’t work in various channels to generate solid engagements.

Even the Target Audience of your company differs on various social media platforms. So how you process your designs must have specific specifications as well.

2. Mapping Your Content

Now that you know which Platform works best for you and what kind of content will attract people, you need to map out what you must post and when.

A Content Calendar makes things easier for everyone in the company. Last-minute Plans always make you exhausted, and output remains relatively flat.

So, when you make your content calendar, make sure it includes the following:

3. Design Specification Matters A Lot

Having a reference for the dimensions for posts on each Platform helps one as a designer to edit designs accordingly.

For example, on Instagram, 1080 Pixels * 1080 Pixels works, but 1080 Pixels*1350 Pixels are what make the picture looks appealing.

The design remains the same, but the featured image size is 1920*1080 pixels on the website.

On Instagram, we publish a Carousel Post with a group of pictures, but on LinkedIn, it works when we attach PDF documents. But that similar thing doesn’t work on Facebook and Twitter because their carousel Post is exclusively for ads.

Tips for Designing Content

Now that you have planned well, mapped your content well, have a strategy, and know the required specification for various platforms.  You can Design the Homepage of your Business Page.

The homepage is like a display summary about oneself that users go through to get an idea of what they will expect after looking at your designs.

Here are some tips for designing your page:

1. Have a Brand Logo/ Name on the Designs

On every design, it is mandatory to have a design Logo/ Name. Your logo is a must on all your posts, but since it is small, not many give attention to it in detail; but one should have their Brand Name/ Logo anyway on their designs.

You can have either of them, but make sure you have a bold background, so it becomes evident that it is your design.

2. Have a Cover Image Design

Not many platforms have a cover image, but that does not mean you aren’t supposed to make it a part of your design strategy.

Many times, cover images are just an expansion of the profile picture with additional information. Here you have to remember that simplicity is the key; the banner appears when people see your account, which is one of the first things they see.

And with the excellent Cover design, you can put all extra details about your business with greater clarity and vision.

3. Platform-Specific Branding

The good thing about social media is the diversity between different platforms. Each Platform has its unique specification for designing the content. Reels work on Instagram and Facebook but fail on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Even though they are different but overall, the design implication, strategy, and every other thing remain the same.
