If You Always Feel Irritable Try These Tricks To Tackle It Down

If your inner spirit resonates with Squidward from Spongebob, you need to read this till the end. We’ve always thought that emotions are tremendous, but irritation isn’t the most pleasant feeling in the world.

Mildly Irritated is an excellent Snapchat pose but not a pleasant feeling. Clinically, that is said to be an early symptom of depression.

Irritability is anger and frustration over often small and insignificant matters.

ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंस: सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते |

सङ्गात्सञ्जायते काम: कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते||

A quote from Bhagwat Gita.

dhaayato vishayan pumsah sanga tesha upajayate |

Sangaat sanjayate kaamah kaamaat krodha abhijayate ||

When men (humans) concentrate on purely material objects, they developed attachment |

From attachment, they develop desire and from desire anger is born ||

This quote explains that when you are too attached to something, you create a desire for it that is unquenchable. When there is a blockage to that desire, you get angry. It tells you that too much attachment leads to anger and irritation about it not being fulfilled.

Tips and Tricks To Tackle Irritation In The Moment

1. Acknowledge Irritation

We often have the temptation to hit back at people with, “I’m not irritated normally; you’re being too annoying.” That could be more helpful.

Acknowledgment that others cannot influence you without you allowing them to let you react to them.

Try, "Can you give me a few moments? I am in a bit of a bad mood. I'll get back to you soon."

2. Take deep breaths

Take a few deep breaths. Count 12 such deep breaths and sit down. Each breath is inhaling and exhaling air once. Between each breath, think of a pleasant image. Try to concentrate on it. Use a fragrance that will help you to relax.

3. Slow Down

When you are irritated, you feel at the peak of your negative energy. So, slow down whatever you are and whatever you are doing. Slowing down will help you to think more. Anything you do when irritated is bound to become a mess because you are in a bad mood, affecting whatever you are doing. So, slow down.

4. Think of all the 'whys.'

Now that you have accepted the irritation, please take a few breaths, slow down, and think of the reason behind it. Is the weather?

Is it pain? Is it someone in particular?

Is it work? Is it stress?

Try to find the source of your irritation

2. Limit Your Alcohol

After you have had a drink or two, there can be a pretty good feeling. You’ll feel like you have been set free, and all your inhibitions are gone. Alcohol plays with your brain functions which work with inhibition and block them. So, you feel like you are free. But we don’t know that excess chemical changes will also change other brain functions and make you irritable.

Hence, limit your alcohol.

3. Sleep Well

I can get cranky when I do not get enough sleep. So does everyone. You are bound to be more annoyed when you don’t sleep well. Sleepless nights and caffeine add to the irritability factor.

Sleeping is essential for many functions in your brain, which can give enormous relief to your mind. It is when the body takes care of all the physical exertion you have gone through during the day.

So, when you sleep less or more, your body becomes less recharged or lazy and even contributes to the cranky feeling.

4. Learn Patience

The impatience to get to something or get something done is also one of the reasons for being irritated. Develop patience, and it will change you.

Start with waiting a few more moments to eat when you are hungry. When you are incredibly excited to see a movie, could you wait for a day or two to see it?

5. Surround yourself with Positivity
