Why Ayodhya?

Ayodhya: Birthplace of Rama and Ram Rajya

Ayodhya, is the birthplace of Lord Rama, has long been associated with the idea of “Ram Rajya,” an era of righteousness and justice. The city breathes the essence of Lord Rama’s teachings, and the Ram Mandir is a testament to the enduring impact of this legendary figure.

The Ramayana states that the location of Rama’s birthplace is on the banks of the Sarayu River in a city called “Ayodhya”. Modern-day Ayodhya is in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

But this is not just the story, there is more to it.

The Conflict and Historical Judgment

The Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute, a decades-old conflict, reached a historic resolution in 2019 when the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the Ram Mandir’s construction.

The beginning of Ram Mandir movement started with the construction of Babri Masjid. The belief that the mosque was built on the ruins of a Hindu temple set the stage for all the conflicts and disputes that have followed ever since. Later on, the Babri Masjid’s demolition led to communal riots across the country, especially between the Hindus and Muslims. Finally, with a landmark judgment of the Supreme Court in favor of Ram Janmabhoomi and following ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ and the formation of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the long saga came to an end.

This decision marked a pivotal moment in Indian history, emphasizing unity and mutual respect.
